Created to unite thought leaders and live out the TED mission to pass on “ideas worth spreading,” TEDx events are independently organized TED talks on a local scale. In 2017, TEDxChicago was ready to make its debut in the Windy City. VSA served as TEDxChicago’s creative partner, handling the creation the event’s website, promotional materials and experiential design.
Working under the theme “Come Together,” the team designed materials that feature a large, yet often subtle “x” to represent both the idea of convergence as well as the TEDx name. Each element of the event strived to help TEDxChicago make its debut known and draw attention from nearly 400 businessmen and women from throughout greater Chicago.
The TEDxChicago website was the event’s first—and perhaps most important— touch point of the event. The interactive site features a speaker lineup with some of Chicago’s most respected leaders and influencers—all of various backgrounds and professions—while setting the stage for a unique TEDx experience.
To complement the new website, VSA created each event element to feature the signature “x” in bright, creative ways. Designed components included an animated wall display, name badges, programs and signage that unified each touchpoint of the event.
