Ministry of White Space features Sue Winter

Chicago’s VSA headquarters plays home to an artists gallery, called “Ministry of White Space,” where VSA creatives display their latest passion projects. The gallery is used to celebrate the artistic activities of our employees outside the office. This quarter, Associate Creative Director Sue Winter is showcasing her installation, titled SEV EN, featuring hundreds of personalized license plates.

Using license plates as a form of self expression, Winter captures creativity in brevity. “What can you say with just seven letters? A lot, it turns out,” says Winter, “You can’t repeat something anyone else has done. Each one is truly unique and personal.” Winter created the piece over three years and photographed over six hundred license plates.

Day to day, Winter works mainly on VSA’s Cargill account—developing new branding systems and guidelines, as well as their 150th anniversary program.
