Senior Resource Manager

The Senior Resource Manager is responsible for charting out the Resource Management process across the agency. He/she provides process oversight and acts as a liaison between practices to facilitate the efficient and appropriate staffing of projects. The Senior Resource Manager works as a strategic partner with Practice Leads and makes recommendations on short-term and long-term staffing. He or she provides day-to-day supervision of a geographically dispersed team of resource support personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead activities associated with Resource Management to include the directing of daily activities of the Resourcing team, functioning as a strategic advisor to VSA’s Practices and Disciplines and ensuring standardized and consistent execution of Resource Management processes.
  • Establish policies and processes for staffing projects. Communicate those policies throughout VSA and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Partner with Practice and Discipline Leads to achieve and maintain optimal resource utilization across the organization.
  • Act as liaison between Client Engagement, Project Management and Discipline Leads to identify appropriate resource requirements for each account and project.
  • Determine when it is necessary to seek out freelance resources to staff projects; monitor freelance use, FTE equivalents and cost, and provide recommendations to reduce costs.
  • Lead weekly resource meetings to facilitate staffing decision for current, upcoming, and new business projects.
  • Understand capabilities, skill sets and interests of assigned resources to better inform resource recommendations and ensuring the right fit on projects.
  • Accurately project future client work and resource demand to make appropriate staffing recommendations.
  • Review reports on utilization, forecast and pipeline, headcount and client needs to make appropriate staffing recommendations to leadership.
  • Oversee the Resource Management component of OpenAir. This includes ensuring the tool meets the resourcing and data needs of all practices.
  • Act as the champion for OpenAir throughout the company and work with Project Management and other Practices to replace the use of other tracking mechanisms with data provided by OpenAir. Lead or participate in various internal initiatives to better leverage the OpenAir tool.
  • Lead Resource Management initiatives centered on refining, streamlining, and/or realigning internal processes.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration, frequent communication, and process consistency across the Practice and Discipline areas.
  • Collaborate with Financial Leadership on forecasting and other analysis as needed.
  • Proactively review staffing data for assigned population and develop meaningful insights on trends, forecast, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of OpenAir’s reporting capabilities and continue to leverage the tool to create value-added reports.
  • Collaborate effectively with Project Management team to ensure that schedule and resource request data is current, complete and accurate at all times.
  • Create VSA Resource Management scorecard metrics, which includes financial, operational and customer experience targets such as utilization, contractor costs, et al.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of resource or project management experience in advertising/marketing industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communication studies, or related is required.
  • Proficiency in OpenAir a plus, proficiency in resource management/project management tools required.
  • Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making.
  • Proven change management experience.
  • Ability to develop teams, strategies, relationships, and cooperation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to provide leadership and professional development of staff and work to ensure the achievement of individual and team goals.
  • Ability to tolerate stress and be adaptable, flexible, and persistent.
  • Must have excellent communication and public presentation skills, combined with outstanding leadership, and management and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit/mindset and flexibility toward dynamic change.
