VSA makes Morgan Freeman larger than life for upcoming gala event

A Candid Conversation with Morgan Freeman” is an upcoming gala event to raise funds for the programming and educational initiatives of the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. And it’s a celebration of the legendary actor/director’s career, as Freeman sits with director Jon Turteltaub for a wide-ranging conversation on his numerous performances. VSA Partners created the invite and supporting collateral for the event, happening June 7 at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago.

VSA first worked with the Gene Siskel Film Center in 2012 to develop creative for that year’s gala, “An Evening with Reese Witherspoon.” When the opportunity came to create an identity for the Freeman event, VSA designed an invite that illustrated the depth and elegance of Freeman’s career, with Freeman portrayed as literally larger than life—the unfolded poster nearly measures the size of a film poster one sheet.

“We’re proud to have worked with the Gene Siskel Film Center to create an invitation that elevates the event and its mission—to salute important leaders in cinematic achievement,” said Jamie Koval, Partner and Client Engagement Lead at VSA. “Associate Creative Director Chris Marino designed the invite to be striking, exciting to unfold and read, and it pays tribute to Morgan Freeman as one of the most recognizable figures in American cinema.”

“We have received an overwhelmingly positive response on the invitation, [which] has exceeded all of our expectations,” said Jean de St. Aubin, Executive Director of the Gene Siskel Film Center. “As Chicago’s premier movie theater, it is important that our materials reflect the same high standard that we put into our film programming and presentation. VSA not only created a design that mirrors Morgan Freeman’s larger than life talent but also were extremely pleasant and organized to work with.”

Tickets for the June 7 event start at $500 and are still available; see the event page for information on how to purchase yours. Stay updated on Gene Siskel Film Center happenings throughout the year with their calendar and Facebook page.
