AIGA Chicago ‘s Mentorship Program is a place where creatives from across disciplines gather to share insights, experiences and resources. Whether it’s a studio tour, designer talk, portfolio review or a potluck, the Mentorship Program has something for everyone to grow their skills and confidence as a designer. And you don’t have to be an established designer to attend—everyone from students, recent grads, professionals contemplating a career change are joining.
With a rich design culture and unwavering passion for mentorship, VSA Chicago will play home to this year’s kickoff (happening Wednesday, March 9th, from 6:30-8:30pm). In fact, VSA boasts several mentors in the Program, and proves a win, win for both mentor and mentee.
“For mentors like myself, the Program is a great way to build leadership qualities, work on presentation skills, and give back to my design community,” says Johnny Mei, Senior Designer at VSA Partners. “Being involved with the program for several years now, it’s great to see younger talent develop and grow over the course.”
The Mentor Program is free and held over the course of 10 weeks, meeting each week, alternating between larger events and smaller mentor groups. There are five different groups within the program, each focusing on something a little different, from portfolio reviews to general networking.
