VSA Partners’ identity and expression system for Vancive Medical Technologies was honored this week by Print Magazine’s 2014 Regional Design Annual, one of the most respected design annuals currently produced. Each year, the Annual collects the best design work in the United States across six regions: Far West, Southwest, Midwest, South, East, Far East and New York City. Out of 4,000 entries in 2014, 350 were selected by judges, with 62 honorees in the Midwest region.
With their advanced adhesive technologies and a focus on integration of hardware and software in the hyper-innovative healthcare space, Vancive worked with VSA in 2012 and 2013 as the fledgling company sought to differentiate itself from parent company Avery Dennison through a new identity system. VSA created a logotype, redesigned website and app, updated collateral, new tradeshow booth design and visual guidelines, with a complete rollout strategy. A key component of that strategy was enlisting internal brand ambassadors from various functional areas to help activate the new brand across the organization.
The identity and collateral materials were created by the Vancive team: Creative Director Chrystine Doerr; Associate Creative Directors Pete Barnett and Jarrod Ryhal; Designers Lauren Bergstrand and Stacey Donaldson; Senior Writer Holly Grigalunas; Associate Directors, Strategy Parul Shah and Andrew Whitelaw; and Associate Partner Mike Walsh. Regarding the honor, Doerr said, “Everyone at VSA is very proud of these Vancive pieces. They’re a company that believes that when products make healthcare easier, they can be powerful catalysts for change, and inspire people to become more conscious and connected with care. That kind of inspiration was a great motivator in creating their identity.”
