At September’s PRINT 13 conference, Sappi Fine Paper North America debuted Act Now! A Better Response to Direct Mail, an all-in-one reference to the principles, practices and results of direct mail. Alongside marketing techniques, mail-related acronym guides, printing options, marketing strategies and much more, the resource contains a box, a book, two mailers, a giant foldout poster and three postcards to demonstrate direct mail’s many forms.
VSA Partners designed each piece within the mailer, including previously printed materials that serve as direct mail case studies—publications for Facebook, D’Addario and Chicago’s local The Butcher & Larder. The book contains inserts and foldouts of many sizes, making for a unique and engaging experience for direct mail designers and users alike. All Act Now! materials were printed on Sappi Opus, a high-quality, cost-effective paper recognized for its excellence in direct mail needs.
“In an increasingly virtual world, tangible forms of communication can cut through the noise and have significant impact, and because of this, the value of mail should not be underestimated,” said Jennifer Miller, Sappi’s EVP of Coated Business and Chief Sustainability Officer. “The power of print combined with smart design elements that will increase engagement—folding, coating, integrated technology—is what makes direct mail more memorable for the recipient, and also shine in the marketing mix.”
Sappi recently developed “Pushing the Envelope: Direct Mail,” a new workshop series that brings the resources and expertise in Act Now! to life. Renowned direct mail expert Trish Witkowski from foldfactory.com and Sappi etc. Print & Creative Manager Daniel Dejan presented information and best practices to a large audience in Chicago on September 10. A second workshop is scheduled for October 9 in New York, which you can RSVP to attend now.
Copies of Act Now! are available from Sappi sales representatives or by attending the October 9 workshop. Additional workshops featuring Witkowski and Dejan will be scheduled in the coming months; contact your Sappi representative or keep an eye on Sappi etc. to learn further details as they’re announced.
