VSA’s internship program continues to build

Current students and recent graduates from universities across the country converged on VSA Partners on June 2 to kick off the company’s fourth summer internship program. 17 interns joined VSA from esteemed universities from around the country including Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Rhode Island School of Design, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, NYU and Brown. This session is the largest to date, with a record number of interns placed in Chicago and New York in agile, strategy, development, user experience, design, client engagement, creative services and delivery management.

VSA formalized the internship program in 2011 with eight Chicago-based design interns. The summer 2013 program brought in 15 interns, with nine converting to full-time members of the team. VSA also expanded the program with its first winter session from January to May 2014, featuring five interns, three of whom accepted full-time positions with VSA. Partner Jamie Koval introduced the program to VSA and continues to direct it. “We’re all enormously proud of the program and the caliber of interns we attract at VSA,” said Koval. “This program is the optimal environment for students and recent graduates to immerse themselves and experience the breadth of our multidisciplinary office.”

Senior Recruiter Andrea Guerrero echoed Koval: “As VSA grows and taps into an ever-expanding pool of talent, we continue to find ways to identity the best next generation professionals, many of whom convert to full-time employees after the program ends. The program allows us to offer many of our team members opportunities for mentorship and professional development. We look forward to growing the program further in coming years.”

The summer internship program winds down next month. Keep an eye on VSA’s open positions throughout the year for news on the next internship session—VSA begins accepting applications for our winter program in September.
