In a world where there’s constantly pressure to “produce, produce, produce,” it’s important to stop and reflect on the special people, places and things that actually drive our creativity. Whenever possible, we like to sit down with one of our creative minds at VSA to find out what inspires them. Today, VSA Senior Image Producer Cristina Anichini sheds light on the four things that inspire her and help her do what she does.
1. A quiet, empty office
Collaboration is important for creativity to flourish, but so is reflection and peace of mind. I like to ease my way into a busy day by coming into the office early to bask in the calm. The first thing I do when I arrive is make myself a second breakfast (you can never have too much breakfast), then I do some deep breathing and enjoy the silence while it lasts.
2. Urbanears headphones
These headphones not only deliver my tunes, but they have a smart design with a fabric-wrapped cord and an extra socket for music-sharing. In a busy office like ours, they keep my ears full of music and podcasts that help me focus.
3. Yellena James
I found Yellena James on a design blog years ago, and have loved her ever since. Her work is like a portrait of my soul. As a retoucher, I’m inspired by her intricate work; it reminds me that the details are just as important as the big picture. (My mousepad was actually designed by her, so I get to look at one of my favorite pieces of hers every day.)
4. RetouchPro YouTube channel
RetouchPro is a tutorial page that can help designers stay current with their skills. It’s my favorite place to brush up on old Photoshop skills, hear from other professional digital artists and learn new tricks. Watching these videos is a good way to stay current on trends, while learning some of the obscure features in Photoshop.
