Whenever possible, we like to sit down with one of our creative minds at VSA to find out what inspires them. In a world where there’s constantly pressure to “produce, produce, produce,” it’s important to stop and reflect on the special people, places and things that actually drive our creativity. Today, Senior HR Generalist Traci Pratt sheds light on the four things that inspire her and help her do what she does.
1. My boys
They are my world and I do everything with these two in mind. Throughout the process of motherhood, I have found my heart is filled with light and love—They inspire me to be a better mom, wife and person. My life has become infinitely more joyful since they became a part of it.
When I really need to clear my mind, I do yoga. The picture above was taken when I was six-months pregnant in Santa Barbara. I remember I was so anxious with all the changes that were going to happen in my life. When I went to the beach, there wasn’t a soul around. It was the perfect time to re-energize and find the focus I needed.
Paris is the most amazing city I’ve ever seen. It’s overwhelming to think about the centuries of people who have enjoyed its beauty. When I was there, people from all across the world came to marvel at buildings, art and structures built by famous kings, artists and leaders. It makes you realize how small the world can be, and how we as people share a common appreciation for the intricate, thoughtful work of others.
4. My grandmother
At 94 years old, my grandma is my best friend and a true inspiration. I was honored when she gave me her wedding ring the Christmas before my husband and I got engaged. She wrote the sweetest note to accompany it: “May you receive a ring one day that brings you as much happiness as this one brought me.” This picture is on my wedding day where her ring served as my “something old.” The note, the ring and the memories I’ve made with her are something I will cherish forever!
