To dovetail with the 2008 presidential election and help promote Sappi’s most presidential of papers McCoy VSA created a print piece featuring an in-depth look at the history of presidential buttons dating back to 1840.
Driven by unique design and topicality, the Button Book has become a keepsake for the primary audience of McCoy the designer community (Sappi continues to receive requests for copies). The Button Book featured hundreds of presidential campaign buttons from McKinley to Obama along with historical insight into the button itself and tidbits about what was happening in America at the time. Along with the Button Book, VSA devised a create-your-own button contest that was targeted at young designers. Sappi received hundreds of submissions on their website and chose 10 winning buttons which were manufactured and used as giveaways to cap out this highly successful promotion.
