Talent Intern

JOB LOCATION

New York

OVERVIEW

Our Talent Acquisition Team (TaT) is on the front lines of enticing, engaging, and welcoming new talent. We partner closely with one another, as well as with other VSAers, to make sure we hire current and potential leaders who are passionate about their crafts and career paths.

The Resource Management Team works closely with internal teams to make sure our projects are properly staffed and gives an enterprise view of capacity and demand. We focus on people, processes, tools and systems that help make VSA an ideal place to work and perform.

Our Talent Acquisition and Resource Management intern knows that being labeled “OCD” is a compliment because it’s often the small things that can make or break an experience. He/she will help us provide a high quality experience to both colleagues, candidates, and freelancers through masterful coordination of all the steps along the way to ensuring a great hire. And, he/she will help our team keep its own train on the tracks in terms of our internal initiatives. Our intern will learn the ins-and-outs of the recruitment and resourcing processes, including nuances in the screening process, and will get a taste of the strategic, longer-term work that is the full realm of the Talent Team.

A little about the VSA Summer Internship Program: If you’re looking for another bullet point on your resume, look elsewhere. At VSA, like much of what we do, we take our internship program seriously. Which means our interns work on “real work,” with real meetings, deadlines, and business challenges from our brands and clients. This is the education you won’t get in a classroom. Consider it career practice, with the freedom to learn, make mistakes, refine, question and tag along. You’ll work with an individual mentor and supervisor in a unique cross-disciplinary environment focused on brand, communications, marketing and digital. As part of the larger program, you’ll take part in intern meetings, team outings, activities and initiatives (can you say networking?). And yes, it’s paid, with an hourly rate, for 40 hours/week, on-site. It starts June 4th. Bet you can’t wait for summer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate candidate interviews, ensuring a positive experience for candidates and VSAers and making sure both parties are well prepared for their meetings.
  • Support TaT in maintaining the integrity of the data in our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) called iCIMS.
  • Coordinate job postings and TaT meetings.
  • Facilitate Day One onboarding of New Hires in our NYC office.
  • Learn to source candidates for a variety of practice areas.
  • Help us seed strong, ongoing relationships with candidates in order to fill the pipeline for future openings.
  • Participate in weekly resource meetings to address resource needs and assist with follow-ups.
  • Provide support to the Senior Resource Managers in determining the need for freelancers.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A graduating senior, preferably in humanities or social sciences.
  • Detail-oriented. And, we mean, DETAIL-oriented.
  • A strong communicator, who interacts well with all levels in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • An eternal optimist with a “can do” attitude that makes you fun to have around.
  • A voracious and quick learner.
  • Discreet and tactful because you understand that “loose lips sink ships” and much of what we do is highly confidential.
  • A speed junkie, who knows when to slow down a bit to make sure things are done right (“Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast” - Phil Dunphy).
  • Good at managing your own time, and you can work independently (don’t need a task master to make sure you get stuff done.)
  • Not afraid of a bit of pressure, and you know how to pivot when changes happen.
  • An opportunity seeker, and you like the challenge of working in ambiguous environments.
  • Proficient in Google platform and apps.
