Content Management Intern

JOB LOCATION

New York

OVERVIEW

These days, content is king. We heard someone say that in a presentation once, and it seemed like a good thing to say here. We're looking for a Content Intern who agrees (with the first statement). You'll help us plan and execute content for a variety of digital, interactive and social media-related projects. You're right for this internship if you're comfortable across a variety of different types of digital work—and someone who's looking to learn from other content strategists and managers, as well as writers, designers and strategists.

A little bit about the VSA Summer Internship Program: If you’re looking for another bullet point on your resume, look elsewhere. At VSA, like much of what we do, we take our internship program seriously. Which means our interns work on “real work,” with real meetings, deadlines, and business challenges from our brands and clients. This is the education you won’t get in a classroom. Consider it career practice, with the freedom to learn, make mistakes, refine, question and tag along. You’ll work with an individual mentor and supervisor in a unique cross-disciplinary environment focused on brand, communications, marketing and digital. As part of the larger program, you’ll take part in intern meetings, team outings, activities and initiatives (can you say networking?). And yes, it’s paid, with an hourly rate, for 40 hours/week, on-site. It starts June 4th. Bet you can’t wait for summer.

Note: this position is part of VSA’s Content Practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will work in all aspects of content planning, creation and measurement across multiple digital and social channels, including gathering and assessing existing source content.
  • The pursuit of the story—you will research and prepare support materials for writers and strategists, which could include anything from competitor content offerings to social monitoring and listening tools.
  • You will do writing, editing, proofreading and quality assurance of copy; basically, anything that makes it great.
  • Along with writers and developers, you will develop SEO and social media metadata.
  • You will input content into web-based content management systems (CMS), forms, and potentially code itself.
  • You will assist in the creation of taxonomy/nomenclature lists and definitions (not as high-school-bio-class as it sounds).
  • Lots of brainstorming, connecting and planning for digital ideas, solutions, key social posts, and more.
  • You’ll create and manage social and editorial calendars for blogs, social media platforms and owned digital channels.
  • You will learn the “business side” of content, too, by executing weekly dashboard audits that measure social effectiveness: engagement, web and social traffic, new followers on social platforms and other KPI’s.
  • You’ll also develop reports from traffic and provide recommendations based on data insights, and analyze website/social media trends using analytic resources (hello Google Analytics and Facebook Insights).
  • Some opportunities to assist with special projects related to important company initiatives as they come up.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned…which means lots of chances to prove yourself.
